Are you concerned by fine lines and wrinkles in your skin? Do you wish your skin was brighter or more even-toned? Are you seeking an easy, non-invasive way to rejuvenate your skin and correct common concerns like dark spots, sun damage, and more? If so, you could be a candidate for microneedling at Advanced Regenerative Therapy in Buford and Savannah, GA!
What Is Microneedling?
Microneedling is a proven skin treatment designed to promote healthy collagen production, correct signs of aging, even your skin tone and texture, and reveal healthier, more vibrant skin in just a few appointments! This treatment uses a small, handheld device with multiple tiny needles to puncture the surface of your skin and stimulate your body’s wound repair process.
Once your skin begins to heal, collagen and elastin are automatically generated to assist in reinforcing your skin. This can help fade lines and wrinkles over time and also helps promote your skin’s health from the inside-out. The small holes created by the treatment process make your skin more absorbent and receptive to a variety of rejuvenating treatment combinations to address your areas of concern.
A typical appointment takes between 25-45 minutes, giving you the flexibility you need to fit treatments into your daily schedule. It is suitable for most patients and can be safely used on almost every skin type, tone, and sensitivity level. Best of all, continued treatment can result in long-lasting or even permanent improvements in your skin.
How Does This Treatment Improve Your Skin?
Creating micro-wounds in your skin is one of the fastest ways to jumpstart your body’s healing and reparative processes. Many skin concerns are linked to a lack of collagen in the skin. This structural protein is essential for keeping your skin firm and lifted. As you grow older, your collagen levels naturally decrease, causing lines, wrinkles, and skin laxity to appear.
Part of the body’s healing process involves fresh collagen production, which can help correct a variety of skin concerns beyond signs of aging. Once new collagen is produced in the skin, the resulting structural support can last several months. Repeated treatments can build on the success of your first session and provide you with long-lasting improvements.
In addition, this treatment allows serums and other nourishing products to penetrate your skin and deliver rejuvenation at a deeper level. We offer treatment combinations to capitalize on this during your appointment, but our patients also notice that their favorite skincare products and treatments are more effective after a microneedling session. This can open the door for further healing and improvement in many areas of your skin.
Which Concerns Can Be Addressed?
Signs of Aging
Lines, wrinkles, and skin laxity are directly connected to a lack of collagen structure in the skin, which makes this treatment a perfect solution to your aging concerns.
Over time, you could see lines and wrinkles disappear as your skin becomes firmer and smoother. In addition, mild skin laxity can be improved as the skin becomes tighter with regular treatments.
Discoloration
Every skin tone is prone to various kinds of discoloration. Hyperpigmentation can cause noticeable spots on the skin that are difficult to conceal and may impact your self-esteem when you look in the mirror. In addition, dark spots can develop with age.
This treatment is able to correct discoloration in the skin over time and may even be able to achieve permanent improvement in the skin.
Sun Damage
Sun damage is the leading cause of most major skin concerns, but many patients don’t realize just how serious good sun protection habits are to their long-term health.
Harmful sun exposure can cause or worsen lines, wrinkles, and dark spots, and it can also result in skin cancer. This treatment can help correct different forms of sun damage and support healthier skin in the future.
Uneven Texture
Whether your skin is dry, dull, or marked by acne, you may feel like your skin texture is imperfect. Topical treatments may be able to improve some concerns, but this treatment is one of the best ways to achieve a smoother texture in a few easy sessions.
A combination of routine treatments and targeted skincare can help you create your ideal image and say goodbye to uneven texture for good.
Scarring and Stretch Marks
If you have acne scars or stretch marks, you know that it can sometimes feel like these marks will never go away. Some scars fade over time, but this process is slow and typically takes years.
This treatment can accelerate the healing process and clear away scars and stretch marks with a personalized treatment plan, giving you new confidence in the appearance of your skin.
Where Can This Treatment Be Used?
While microneedling is regularly used on the face and jawline, it is also approved for use on your neck, chest, breasts, thighs, buttocks, back, and hands.
This means that skin concerns virtually anywhere on your body can be easily addressed and treated without invasive procedures. Even better, you can expect the same excellent results in all of these target areas.
Can I Enhance My Treatment?
We offer two exciting ways to enhance your session with skin-nourishing products. These products are applied to your skin after the microneedling process is complete, which allows your skin to fully absorb the nutrients for optimal results.
Platelet-Rich Plasma
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is collected from your blood via a centrifuge, which spins a small vial of blood at high speeds until the PRP is able to be removed.
The PRP is applied directly to your skin to aid in its healing and rejuvenation. In addition, it may help improve skin concerns like acne, scarring, or sun damage, which have the potential to heal completely over time.
Who Is an Ideal Candidate?
If you’re an adult man or woman who wants to see a noticeable improvement in your skin, you might be a good candidate for this treatment. You should be generally healthy and free from any bleeding disorders that may interact negatively with this treatment process. In addition, you should not have severe skin sensitivity concerns.
This treatment may not be ideal for candidates with severe aging concerns. In addition, treatment is not ideal for patients who have current acne breakouts or patients with skin irritations or infections in the target skin. Finally, it’s important to have informed, realistic expectations about the results you can expect from this treatment.
Most candidates who are approved for this treatment are also able to pursue PRP therapy. If you’re unsure whether this treatment option is right for you, our doctor can help you determine your candidacy during an initial consultation.
What Can I Expect?
Are you interested in this treatment, but unsure of what to expect? Every patient has a different treatment journey, but here is a brief overview of what you may experience when you come to our professional office for microneedling.
Consultation
An initial consultation allows our doctor to sit down with you and discuss your areas of concern and ideal goals for treatment. In addition, our doctor will examine your skin for any signs of irritation or infection and review your medical history to ensure that this treatment is right for you.
If you’re approved for treatment, our doctor will recommend a personalized treatment plan based on your concerns.
Preparation
In order to prepare for this treatment effectively, it’s important to keep your skin calm and healthy for at least 1-2 weeks before your first appointment. This means no harsh exfoliants, chemical peels, laser resurfacing, or other irritating treatments that may cause redness and discomfort in the skin. Similarly, we recommend that you skip any untested skincare products to avoid a negative reaction in your skin.
In addition, you should limit your time in the sun to prevent sunburn. When you are outdoors, you should wear sunscreen and avoid direct sunlight as much as possible. It’s also important to avoid tanning in natural sunlight or on tanning beds for at least 1 week before treatment. Using self-tanning products is not recommended as the treatment process may impact the appearance of the product post-session.
Most patients can continue with their normal skincare routines before treatment. However, our doctor may ask you to stop using some skincare products or stop taking certain medications to ensure optimal results.
Treatment
On the day of your appointment, you should wash your skin with a gentle cleanser. If you are having treatment performed on your face, you should avoid applying makeup. Our trained staff member will cleanse your skin and examine the target area for any concerning signs of irritation. They will then apply a topical numbing cream to keep you comfortable throughout your session.
Our staff member will use the handheld microneedling device to move slowly across the target skin. As the device moves over the skin, the small, sterile needles create tiny holes. Once this process is complete, our staff member will apply PRP, or any other serums you choose to your skin. These products will quickly absorb into the micro-channels created by this treatment.
After your appointment, you will be given instructions to follow during recovery. You can return to most of your normal activities immediately thanks to the zero-downtime nature of this treatment.
Recovery
Most patients experience an easy recovery, especially if they continue to protect their skin from irritation and sun exposure. You should continue to avoid blood-thinning medications for approximately 1 week.
After 2 weeks, most patients can use tanning beds and self-tanning products again. Finally, it’s recommended to check with our doctor before scheduling any intensive skin treatments to ensure that your skin is completely healed.
Results
You may begin to notice some improvement in your skin as early as 3-5 days after treatment. You will probably notice that your skin has a new glow and that its surface is softer and smoother. As your skin heals, new collagen will give your skin a mini-lift, temporarily erasing lines and wrinkles and fading dark spots, sun damage, and scars.
Final results can last 4-6 weeks, after which point our doctor may recommend that you return for regular appointments to provide ongoing maintenance or to continue treating certain concerns. This treatment can be safely pursued for as long as you desire, but most treatment plans require just 6-8 sessions to achieve your ideal image.
